The 2025 Renegade Movie Competition Proclaims Its Award Winners

The 2025 Renegade Movie Competition concluded with an explosion of inspiration. Two full days of movie
screenings crescendoing to an awards ceremony honoring the perfect in style filmmaking. First-timers, veterans, world premieres, and ultimate fest screenings culminated on the Strand Theatre celebration of inclusion, group, and cinema.

Day one ended with the fortieth anniversary of 1985’s Re-Animator directed by Stuart Gordon and starring Jeffrey Combs and Barbara Crampton (Renegade’s 2025 Horror Icon recipient). For a lot of attendees, that was their first time seeing the movie on the massive display screen.

Day two introduced probably the most talked about block of the fest, Monstrous Female reinforcing the concept that horror is certainly political, well timed, and completely vital.
